Model for AD Facility at Manor Farm

Case Study>> Energy from Waste &  Renewable Energy>> Manor Farm, Northamptonshire

Client>> D Taylor & Son & Qila Energy

Project>> Anaerobic Digestion Facility (AD Facility)

In 2015, GP Planning Ltd successfully secured planning permission for an on-farm Anaerobic Digestion Facility on behalf of D Taylor & Son near the conservation village of Alderton.

The AD facility will utilise maize, hybrid rye and winter wheat grown on the farmers land in order to produce enough gas to service approximately 3000 homes. There will be minimal traffic impacts, due to the fact that the inputs to the facility will be grown on the surrounding farmland and will brought to the facility across farm land used by the owner.

The proposed facility will provide at least three direct jobs, secure the jobs of many others and provide indirect jobs to construction workers, maintenance operatives and landscapers etc.

The planning submission thoroughly assessed the impacts of the facility on Alderton in order to provide a robust justification for the development.

Planning Committee members voted unanimously in favour of the planning application, which will provide significant renewable energy benefits. The AD facility is currently being built and it is hoped that it will become operational in 2017.
