GP Planning Ltd is leading an extensive and well renowned consultant team in the preparation of proposals for a forest holiday destination. Rockingham Forest Park will be a forest holiday destination for the whole family with a range of leisure, retail and tourism facilities. It recognises the recent trend for British holidays, and the need for tourism facilities in the area identified by East Northamptonshire Council in its recent Tourism Strategy. It is located within an area that historically was quarried for ironstone, to support the steel industry in north Northamptonshire. GP Planning Ltd bring their expertise in the restoration of quarry sites and regeneration of brownfield land to the project.The project involves extensive and wide ranging baseline and site investigations, coupled with the development of a masterplan for the Park. A range of stakeholder and community consultation events is planned for early 2011. This will culminate in the submission of an Outline Planning Application and Environmental Impact Assessment to East Northamptonshire Council.
