GP Planning are delighted to have recently obtained planning permission for an extension to an existing agricultural grain store adjacent to the Stone Henge World Heritage Site. This scheme reflects the continued work that GP Planning do to support our rural based clients and our expertise in delivering development in sensitive heritage locations. The grain store was designed and will be delivered by TH Whites and we are pleased to continue to work with them on similar schemes in Gloucestershire and Hampshire. Whilst preparing the application GP Planning undertook a programme of ongoing positive engagement with English Heritage and the National Trust, who are jointly responsible for the management of the World Heritage Site. Through this process we were able to deliver a scheme that was in keeping with the local arable landscape and did not cause harm to any features of heritage importance. It is a modern centralised storage facility for local produced seeds and grains, operated by a farmers co-operative, destined for the food and drink processing industry. The planning permission will facilitate continued investment in the rural economy and enable the individual farmers to benefit from improved efficiency, quality and competitiveness of the food supply chain, supporting the long term future of UK-produced foodstuffs.
